Setup Gemini Enterprise with Wrike MCP

This guide provides a comprehensive, end-to-end walkthrough for setting up the Wrike MCP server in Gemini Enterprise.

The steps below explain how to create a Wrike data store in Gemini Enterprise, connect it to a Gemini Enterprise app, and authorize Wrike in the chat.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A Wrike account.
  • Access to Gemini Enterprise in the Google Cloud Console, with a project selected and IAM permissions to manage data stores.
  • An existing Gemini Enterprise app.

Step 1: Create Data Store in Gemini Enterprise

  • Navigate to Gemini Enterprise in Google Cloud Console: https://console.cloud.google.com/gemini-enterprise/
  • Select Data Stores in the left panel.
  • Click Create data store at the top.
  • Select Wrike from the list of available data sources and configure it step by step:
    • Data step: Select the Spaces checkbox. This is specific to Gemini and is not related to Wrike spaces.
    • Actions step: Select the actions you want to enable. Only tools that change data in Wrike are listed here; read-only tools are enabled by default. We recommend selecting all available actions to make the MCP fully operational.
    • Configuration step: Select your region. It should be the same as the Gemini chat region. Then provide a data connector name, for example, Wrike.

The data store for accessing Wrike data is now created and configured.

Step 2: Add the Data Store to the chat

  • Go back to Gemini Enterprise and select the app where you want to use the Wrike data store, also known as Wrike MCP: https://console.cloud.google.com/gemini-enterprise/ -> Apps -> select the app where you will use Wrike MCP.
  • In the app configuration, select Connected data stores in the left panel.
  • Click Add existing data store at the top.
  • Select the Wrike data store from the list of available data stores. This is the data store you created and configured in the previous step.

Step 3: Validation

  • Go to the chat itself: https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google.com/
  • Click the Connectors icon in the chat.
  • Find Wrike in the drop-down list and click Authorize. This will trigger the OAuth authorization flow.

Troubleshooting

  • Write actions are missing, or Wrike behaves as read-only. Read-only tools are enabled by default, but write tools must be selected explicitly in the Actions step when you create the data store (Step 1). If you didn't select them, edit the data store, enable the actions, and re-authorize in the chat. If write actions are selected but still don't appear in the chat, the data store may need to be re-created or re-synced.
